American University. Career Skills Initiative. 2016. https://www.american.edu/careercenter/Skills.cfm
Despite how much I have managed and developed
my skills throughout the duration of the course, there are still many in which
I need to learn and or further develop as I look to go into my next year of
university. For me my biggest skill developed/improved is my time management.
Changing my approach on my timing/planning showed an improvement in my works
quality as well as my personal satisfaction. I want to continue taking this
forward into the next year and balance my time around a part time job, as well
as my sporting commitments and social life. The work load in my next year will
increase significantly as well as having exams in which I will need to allocate
and balance my time around in order to achieve my goal of getting the best
possible grade in my degree to help e get the job I want in such a competitive
time. Anther skill I need to further improve on is my management of change.
Specifically, how I get past the restraining forces hindering my goals. One of
my floors is I make good intention but struggle/fail to follow through with
them. This is because my attitude towards education was often minimal and
negative. However, coming to university has changed my outlook and attitude
towards learning and the changes I need to overcome are the old habits and ways
that will only deter me from achieving the best not only in university but life
afterwards. This also relates to how I manage conflict as I understand that I will
have to do things that I am not comfortable or happy with but need to adapt my personality/beliefs
at times I for the benefit of myself. These are just a couple of the skills I want
to improve on as well as learn others to enhance my person in and out of university.
